Elucidating Polarization and Coexisting in Transcultural Situations: Building a Platform for “Sharing” and “Dialogue” of Humanities Knowledge Created with People from Asia and Africa

Under the recent transcultural circumstances in which the mobility of people, goods, and information has accelerated and cultural boundaries have become increasingly blurred, a new methodology for the humanities that surpasses the paradigm of multicultural coexistence is required. This project, as a core project of the TUFS Field Science Commons, addresses this demand through integrated knowledge based on interdisciplinary collaboration, centering on the three fields of Area Studies/History, Linguistics, and Anthropology. Based on field science, we will explore the mechanisms of “trust” and “tolerance” among the peoples of Asia and Africa in particular and envision a coexisting society for the new era.
