Overview

Human beings are gregarious animals that cannot live alone, and the question of what kind of “sociality” supports that life is a fundamental question for us. Today, people and things that had never had the opportunity to encounter each other before encounter each other beyond the framework of regions, ethnic groups, and nation-states, creating a transcultural situation in which they influence each other. Under these circumstances, discrimination and exclusion are becoming more serious, and a new sociality that embraces differences is being sought. Furthermore, in the post-corona situation, it will become increasingly important to consider sociality from the viewpoint that the world in which we live consists of not only humans but also viruses, plants, animals, and things, and that this dynamism is multidimensional. In this study, we will explore the mechanisms of tolerance and intolerance by focusing on the practices of people in the fields of Asia and Africa. We also aim to create a platform for discussion on how to “live together” in the post-corona of transcultural situations.
