Adaptation and Reorientation of the Historical Texts and its Actors in the Medieval and Early Modern Middle East

ID: jrp000301

In this study, researchers in history and related areas will collaborate to identify how certain cultural acts have contributed to the inclusion of certain historical texts and allowed others to fade into oblivion in medieval and early modern West Asia. Here, we define historical texts as those considered to encompass greater amounts of folklore than historical facts, including historical materials that are categorized in texts to be analyzed in literature or Islamic studies. This definition paves the way for interdisciplinary discussion to overcome the current division of research into sections related to language, region, and historical period in West Asian history.
