This cross-linguistic project aims at empirically investigating phonetic typology. Seventeen researchers in Japan and overseas will report their research on phonetic phenomena in various language groups. During this phase of the project, we will mainly conduct research on aspects of consonants focusing on voicing and phonation contrast as well as features of nasal consonants and fricatives.
