In addition to conducting individual research as members of the Institute, they also provide information to the research community and serve as a link between researchers in Japan and overseas by organizing joint research projects in order to fully demonstrate the functions of the International Center for Inter-Use and Cooperative Research on Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa.
Research Associateships are fixed-term positions for junior researchers (post-doctoral level). They are salaried and are responsible for participating in various activities and assisting the research staff in conducting research projects; these activities are a part of the academic training for junior scholars at ILCAA.
ILCAA offers visiting positions that allow international researchers to spend six to twelve months at ILCAA in order to conduct collaborative research projects with the ILCAA Research Staff and researchers in Japan. Four to six researchers are in residence every year.
“Research Fellows (Visiting Researchers)” are non-salaried fixed-term research positions for senior researchers to engage in collaborative research at ILCAA with the research staff.
“Junior Research Fellows” are non-salaried fixed-term positions for young researchers (post-doctoral level) to participate in collaborative research activities under the guidance of the ILCAA research staff. These activities are a part of the academic training for junior scholars at ILCAA.
