18世紀以降現在にいたるカザフ民族史と、ロシア・中国関係を中心とする外交史

Focusing on the history of the Kazakh nomads who resided in Kazakhstan and Xinjiang of China, I have examined the shifts in the relationships among the Russian Empire, Qing Empire, and Kazakhs during the 18th century and the half of the 19th century. I also pay attention to movements beyond the border after the Russo-Qing demarcation in Xinjiang. On one hand, I investigate the political change in the background of the movements like the 1916 revolt in Central Asia. On the other hand, I explore the system of the conflict resolution in the border area. The system mainly relied on the Kazakh customary laws, in which I have much interest. I also seeking for the approach to the relations between Modern Japan and Central Asia, developing the above- mentioned research.
