I am studying on "things" and embodiment in the maritime Southeast Asia

I primarily conduct research with a cultural anthropological perspective on themes such as "things," embodiment, and the movement of people and cultures, focusing on the Southeast Asian archipelago, including countries like the Philippines and Malaysia. My research journey began with a focus on the Muslim minority ethnic groups collectively known as the "Moros" in the southern Philippines, exploring topics related to local movements of people and cultures, conflicts, and the practice of Islam.
Subsequently, my research interests expanded to encompass various aspects of material culture, including "things" in a broad sense, as well as issues related to body adornment and bodily expressions. More recently, I have initiated interdisciplinary collaborative research on topics such as the cross-border reception of Japanese popular culture among the youth in Southeast Asia, and overcoming social divisions and promoting diversity through embodied experiences.
