A wide range of cultural diffusion, contacts, inclusions, and transformations have taken place in the area that surrounds the Gulf of Oman which connects the Pan-Indian Ocean with the Arab and Persian worlds. This project will clarify the impact that these cultural interrelations and transformations have had with reference to the historical situation of each of these spheres. We will create a database of information on the interrelation of prehistoric and historical times in the area surrounding the Gulf of Oman with off-site work introducing digital technology. At the same time, this project will form a cross-regional and comprehensive history of the formation and transformation of the social, cultural, and historical situation that is influenced by maritime interaction in this area, drawing on archaeology and history.
