Clarification of the Actual Situation of Agro-pastoral Complex Frontier in the Trans-Himalayan Region: From the approach of vocabulary study−

This project’s objective is to deepen the understanding of Tibetan pastoralism in the agro-pastoral complex. It will conduct fieldwork and documentary research on the natural environment, livelihoods, pastoral techniques, agricultural techniques, and food cultures of the middle highlands on the south side of the Himalayas, where the pastoral zone of the highlands and the agricultural zone of the lowlands intersect, to compare them with the cultural features of adjacent non-Tibetan lowland agriculture. We will add the newly accumulated Tibetan words on pastoralism to the archive Tibetan Pastoralism Portal, built by the members of the project to formulate an archive that takes into account regional diversity.
