Social Transformation and Multipolarization of Muslim Societies in South Asia: Toward an Integrated Understanding of Structural Change and Islamism in Bangladesh

This study explores various multipolar trends of Muslim societies in South Asia by examining social transformations in the recent Bangladesh, which is enjoying steady economic growth. It examines the progress of urbanization and expansion of the middle class in Bangladesh as well as the emerging consumer culture. It also considers the impact of extremist activities, such as the terrorist incident in 2016, and delves into the structural changes experienced within Muslim societies in South Asia.
