Monthly Photos August 2015 : One of the Best Interior of Mudbrick House

2015/08/01

Photos taken by ILCAA staff and associates are posted here once a month; most of them are taken during their field research in Asia and Africa.

Most houses in the rural areas of western Niger are built using a mud brick called “banco.” After the men construct the brick wall and the roof, which is supported by wooden frame, the women plaster the walls and floors inside the house. This photo is the best interior that I observed in this area. The walls must be annually replastered because of leaks caused by the rain and termite damege.
