Professor Hidemitsu Kuroki has received the 15th (2025) Japan Consortium for Area Studies Award (Research Planning Award).

Professor Hidemitsu Kuroki has received the 15th (2025) Japan Consortium for Area Studies Award (Research Planning Award). This award recognizes contributions to area studies in the following areas: 1) planning, implementation, and support of collaborative research; 2) planning and implementation of international collaborative research and on-site research; 3) dissemination and publication of research results both domestically and internationally; 4) mutual utilization, sharing, and disclosure of area studies information; and 5) collaboration and cooperation for education and human resource development. Professor Kuroki was recognized for his role as the area organizer for the MEXT Grant-in Aid for Transformative Research Areas (A) “Connectivity and Trust Building in Islamic Civilization”(Islamic Trust Studies, academic years 2020‒2024). The award ceremony was held at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University, on November 15, 2025.
