The cross-regional movement of people, including migrants and refugees, has in recent years emerged as an increasingly important issue both in academic discourse and in broader society. This symposium aims to re-examine, through interdisciplinary and transnational perspectives the social and political impacts of the inter-regional movement of populations across Asia. In collaboration between Filipino and Japanese scholars, this event facilitates a discussion on the ongoing geopolitical uncertainties and socio-economic challenges that have constrained the freedom of mobility and other human rights of people crossing between regions of Asia.
