Cultural anthropology has long explored and communicated the diverse ways of living and systems of value found across the world. At the same time, it has continually questioned and re-examined the assumptions and frameworks through which we understand culture and society, opening up new ways of seeing the world. While its outcomes have traditionally been presented mainly through ethnographies and academic texts, anthropological expression today increasingly extends into a wide range of forms, including film, photography, performance, installation, and workshops. These practices have expanded the possibilities of knowledge and experience beyond what can be fully captured through text alone. This event introduces recent developments in these interdisciplinary and experimental practices through exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, performances, and talks by researchers and artists. Through these various formats, we will explore their methodologies, modes of thinking, and future possibilities. Nine days of discovering new ways of seeing through feeling. We offer a wide range of programs open to everyone. Whether you are already familiar with anthropology and art, or encountering them for the first time, we warmly welcome your participation. Talks, talk sessions, and performances do not require advance registration and are free of charge. Seating is unreserved and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry and exit during programs are permitted. Approximately 40–50 seats will be available. Please see the details for each workshop regarding workshop participation. The exhibition will run from Saturday, June 13 to Sunday, June 21, from 11:00 to 18:00. Admission is free. The exhibition can also be viewed during program events (except during workshops).
