Animating Resistance: The Visualization of Palestinian Voices in Gauze

This event will feature a screening of the short animated film Gauze with Japanese subtitles, and will consider how animation as a medium can visualize Palestinian voices as Othered experiences. One of the directors will be invited to discuss the production process and the background of the voice recording as well as the whole process. Through a discussion with specialists, the event will examine the film’s expressive strategies, the current situation in Gaza, and questions of representation from multiple perspectives.
