Biography is a compelling form of expression that vividly brings to life an individual’s thoughts and experiences. Yet when we attempt to write a biography ourselves—or to translate one—we are often confronted with a wide range of questions, from ethical concerns to practical challenges. This workshop will begin with presentations by two scholars of Middle Eastern studies. Building on these contributions, participants will share their own experiences and engage in discussion, deepening our understanding of the meaning and possibilities of writing and translating biographies.
