TUFiSCo will organize Commons Cafe "Embroidery Making under Occupation and Women's Independence in Palestine," inviting Maki Yamamoto, the organizer of the Palestinian Embroidery Obi Project/ a doctoral student at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. This event featured a talk session on the activities of women in Palestine, who continue to practice embroidery under Israeli occupation, and a workshop on Palestinian embroidery. Participation only in the talk session is also welcome. Speaker: Maki Yamamoto Organizer of the Palestinian Embroidery Obi Project/ doctoral student at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. After working at a cosmetics maker, she is supporting Palestine by making Japanese obis adorned with Palestinian embroidery by local women. In 2025, he was awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for her efforts to promote cultural exchanges between Japan and Palestine.
