The Institute has many staff members in the fields of linguistics, anthropology, and history. All professors and associate professors, except assistant professors, participate in educational activities at the Graduate School of International Studies, TUFS.
We accept and supervise doctoral students in the fields of linguistics, anthropology, history, and other areas of specialization, mainly focusing on Asia and Africa. In addition, some of our staff members participate in the educational activities of the Master’s Program.
Although the number of graduate students who have ILCAA members as their primary advisors is small at present, ILCAA offers unique and generous guidance, including joint seminars in anthropology and history, and is unique in that students can interact with graduate students from other universities in the same field through participation in various seminars offered by ILCAA.
In the doctoral course, where ILCAA members serve as primary supervisors, some seminars are joint seminars. In the Anthropology and History Seminar, a joint seminar is held once a week, where all faculty members and students participate in active discussions, which are utilized for the thesis guidance.
Those who wish to be supervised by the Institute in the doctoral course should consult with the Institute in advance and take the entrance examination for the doctoral course conducted by the Graduate School of Global Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
