公募によって選考され,中東現地に派遣される若手研究者は,英語による30分間の研究報告を行い,その後15分間,開催地や近隣の中東諸国あるいは欧米から招へいしたコメンテータを含む参加者との間で質疑応答を行います。本報告会は,2006(平成18)年度はイスタンブルのボアジチ大学,2007(平成19)年度はベイルートのクラウン・プラザ・ホテルで開催しました
が,2008(平成20)年度からはレバノン共和国ベイルートにおける研究拠点「中東研究日本センター」を会場とし,「日本における中東研究の最前線 Middle Eastern Studies in Japan: the State of the Art」というタイトルのもとに開催しています。
