期間：2016-2018年度

本課題は，イギリス植民地支配期に直接的に先行する1500年頃から1800年頃（「近世期」）の南アジアの歴史を，文化的側面に焦点をあてて再考することを目的とする。南アジア各地において異なる言語で作成された文学作品や宗教文献などを，比較とつながりの視点をふまえて分析し，この時代を特徴付ける文化・思想的傾向の把握につとめるとともに，政治的領域を跨ぎ，宗教・言語・地域の違いを超えて広がっていたであろう当時の文化的なつながりのあり方について考察を深める。
