About the Project
Project term: April, 2024–March, 2027
This project is the second phase of a project that began in 2021. Following the theme of the first phase, it seeks to make further empirical contributions to phonetic typology of languages in Asia and Africa through expanding the scope of the research. The project will focus on liquids and vowels, which pose numerous unsolved problems for contemporary phonology. Building upon the initial data collected by 15 researchers residing both in and outside Japan, we offer new insights elucidated from cross-linguistic perspectives.
