About the Project
Project term: April, 2023–March, 2026
Using the digital archiving of cultural heritage in Historic Cairo, this research practically investigates what digital archiving should be and how it can be utilized for research and education. It also aims to show the values for researchers to build up digital archives by considering these archives as an opportunity for research and educational practices.
Our joint researcher, Takenori Yoshimura, will give a talk entitled ‘The Use of Digital Image Contents and the Study of History: The Case of Historical Buildings in Cairo’.
After the report, we will have a meeting to discuss the research plan for this project.
Yasser Elshayeb, who specialises in geological analysis using GIS and has a background in archaeological research, will talk about the possibilities of using GIS in urban analysis.
