This project picks up processes and consequences of contacts between things / people having different cultural and social background in South Asia where diverse religions, languages and human groups coexist. It aims to deliberate on a variety of contacts between things / people of different religions, languages, social origins, classes, regions, or intellectual traditions, and to explore power relationship affecting those contacts in South Asia from Early Modern period up to the present day. Formations and reformations of “boundaries” as premises / consequences of cultural contacts will be one of its main topics.
