When I had a look at a headscarf shop located in the souk(market) leading to Umayyad Mosque, I gave an exclamation of surprise. The shop shared a similar characteristic with other scarf shops which had opened throughout Muslim world since the 2000s: colorful scarves were displayed close together on the walls and shelves. The difference I found was spectacle of half body mannequins lined up in a row. Each of them had different ways of color layering and dressing, so it seemed as if I was looking at a page of a fashion magazine. That was a sight seen before Syria crisis and Covid-19.
