'Carrot cake' in Singapore

'Carrot cake' usually means a cake with grated carrots in it. But the 'carrot cake' in Singapore neither be a dessert nor contain carrots in its usual sense. It is made by stir-frying eggs and diced radish cake, which is a steamed mixture of rice flour and daikon radish, sometimes called 'white carrot' in Singapore, hence the name of the dish. It has two types: white carrot cakes, seasoned with salt, and black carrot cakes, seasoned with black soy sauce. It is one of the staple dishes of the Hawkers (Food courts in Singapore). The picture shows a traditional-style white carrot cake served by a famous stall in Toa Payoh, a residential area in central Singapore. The stall has appeared in Michelin since 2018.
