An old woman S took out her grindstone to demonstrate how to cook a Bende traditional meal called iibhu (ground raw corn kernels are wrapped in banana leaves, and steamed). She said, “ In the old days, women spent the whole day grinding in the kitchen. Now, nobody wants to do such painstaking cooking.” Older people in the village rejoiced that they could eat iibhu for the first time in two years.
