Khao Soi Restaurant

Khao soi is a specialty in Northern Thailand. It is egg noodle in curry-flavored soup containing coconut milk, topped with meat, crispy fried egg noodle, coriander leaf, Welsh onion and so on. Noodle called khao soi is also found in Laos, but it is said to be fairly different from khao soi in Northern Thailand, neither curry-flavored nor with soup.

Here is a photograph of a khao soi restaurant near Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai, the largest city in Northern Thailand. Though the store sign reads “khao soi”, the restaurant serves also non-curry-flavored soup egg noodles, soup kuai tiao (rice noodle), and even wonton. The lady of the restaurant is taking kuai tiao noodles, in front of which are egg noodles for khao soi. At near side of the upper shelf of the showcase, we see crispy fried egg noodles for a topping of khao soi.
