feeling a pulse of god of medicine

A scene of medical courtesy in a Daoist temple of Baosheng Dadi (保生大帝). Two men hold a chair like “shoujiao” (手轎). It is said that if god sits in the shoujiao, the shoujiao itself starts to function alike an animation without the holders’ interference. The picture shows that god uses the shouiao and feels a patient pulse. Naturally, pulse is felt with left wrist for men and right wrist for women according to Chinese medicine rules “man-left women-right”.
