A cat and a girl

Silwan is a Palestinian neighborhood located on the southern outskirts of the Old City in Jerusalem. Being side by side with the City of David, which is development project the Israeli government is promoting, Silwan is one of the most contested places in Jerusalem.

On a study tour, we learned about the current situation, and met the girl. Too young to understand the conflict and politics, she was playing with a cat of Silwan. We were instantly charmed by their innocence, which gave us hope for the future in the midst of the terrain of conflict.
