A stone-built Buddhist temple stands out in western architectures. The Tibetan Buddhist temple in Saint Petersburg was built in early twenties during 13th Dalai Lama's time. The name of this temple is Gunzechoyney Datsan (Дацан Гунзэчойнэй), and local people call it Datsan ('monastery' in Tibetan). There are about 15 Buryat monks in the temple. After the turbulent experience such as religious oppression, Datsan still exists there silently surrounded by trees.
