Yangon Armenian Church

Since the late 16th century Armenian merchant were trading widely in South and Sotheast Asia.

They first visited Yangon in 1740s and built the first cburch in 1766 there. After the first church was destroyed by fire in 1850, the present one, the Armenian Apostolic Church of St. John the Baptist, was consecrated in 1863.

The oldest surviving church in Yangon was designated as a historical heritage by Yangon Heritage Trust in 2014.
