The Yili river bridge

The Yili river bridge (Yilihe Daqiao), which is built over Yili river, is located in Yining, Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region of China. The other side of the river is Cabcal (Cabucha’er), an autonomous region of Sibe (Xibo) people. In the summer, many people enjoy swimming and boating around the bridge. This bridge also played an important role for transportation.

Even though this place is being replaced in recent years by the second Yili river bridge (Yilihe Erqiao) which is built downstream, the bridge is nonetheless fascinating people with its distinctive atmosphere. Perhaps that is why this bridge is still being called “the” Yili river bridge (Yilihe “Daqiao”).
