The international night train called “Friendship Express,” which began to operate in 2005 between Istanbul in Turkey and Thessaloniki in Greece, is no longer running since 2011. Some say it is because the friendship has gone; the fact is that Greece was obliged to suspend it due to the enduring financial crisis. The fate of the “Friendship” thus represents the imbalance between the two countries especially in terms of their economic power.
