FEMALE OF THE MIDDLE CLASS DRAWING WATER FROM THE NILE

Most will notice the woman carrying water in the center of this lithograph. Her clothing is the same as the girl on the right in lithograph 7, but she seems to be entirely naked underneath. This may be hard to believe, but some Europeans spoke of seeing undressed women running into neighboring houses or walking the streets in early morning, in rural Egypt during that time.
