NEJDI HORSE.  ARABIA

The Arabian Peninsula was long known as a producer of superior horses, and supplied horses to the Middle East as well as to South Asia. The Najdī(Nejdi) was a horse from the Najd region in inland Arabian Peninsula, and was known to be a high quality Arab breed. Najd was the cradle of Wahhabism, and this horse may have been ridden by a Waḥḥābī or an enemy warrior of the local force. Perhaps, the bleeding man fallen down seen on the left of this lithograph was the rider. The artist crossed the Red Sea and ventured into the Arabian Peninsula to create this piece.
