WAHABI, WITH AN AZAMI ARAB
展示品
The Waḥḥābīte purification movement of Islam, which occurred in the mid 18th century, at one point swept over the entire Arabian Peninsula. They suffered a blow; however, at the time of this lithograph, the Egyptian expeditions had begun (1811) and were recouping their strength. It would take another 80 years before they built their Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Azami are believed to be Arab nomads, but the details are not known.
