Mahmood Naib Shurreef, The celebrated Kuzzilbaush Chief
The Qizilbash (meaning red cap) were a group of people originally from Iran; they were Shieites who spoke Persian and Turkish and worked as bureaucrats. The man on the right has their symbolic red piece on his cap. Mahmud Nafib was on good terms with the British and is said to have greeted people in English.
