20Establishing Research NetworksThe Overseas Scientic Research Coordination Team (OSC)Since 1975, the OSC has been engaged in establishing cooperative relationships, both among concerned researchers and institutions conducting overseas scientic research, and between researchers and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and also Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).The head ofce of OSC is placed in the Field Science Center of ILCAA, and ILCAA staff have been coordinating its activities together with researchers and academics from various institutions.OSC is constructing a web of Japanese eld researchers working in various parts of the world and building a database of overseas scientic research activities, in addition to organizing an annual “OSC Forum”, where around 100 researchers meet at ILCAA from all over Japan to exchange information of their concerning elds of study.http://www.aa.tufs.ac.jp/en/projects/osc/Establishing Research NetworksFieldnet‘Fieldnet’ is a network for the academic eldworkers from Japan who often go to various places worldwide for their research. We share a lot of useful information about eld work and technicalities involved, for example about the research permit, how to collect the old data of colonial era, the counterpart and co-researchers in the particular place, and resource persons, etc. We discuss about common topics from a view point of multi-disciplined scholars, so that we may get new ideas and organize new academic research group and new research elds to solve academic and social problems.
