After getting off the plane, passage to the immigration and customs will differ depending upon the Narita Airport Terminal that your plan lands at. 10.There are two air terminals at Narita Airport: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The only difference between them is: (A) In the case of Terminal II, after you get off the plane, you walk through some corridors and finally end up in an automatic shuttle train which will deposit you in the immigration and customs section; (B) In the case of Terminal I, there is no such shuttle train and you will directly go to the immigration section. 11.Following table gives the names of participants and their flight details. There will be separate lines for Japanese nationals and foreigners. Present your passport and immigration card. 14.You will reach baggage belts. You may take a luggage cart (free of charge). The cart has an automatic break. To move it, you have to hold its handle and press it downwards and push. Usage of this handle is essential when you put the cart on an escalator. When you put it on an escalator, you HAVE to LEAVE the handle so that the cart is automatically locked on the steps of the escalator and will not slide down. 15.You will reach Customs. If asked, you may mention that you are invited to the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies for an international conference. Customs officers speak English. Exchanging money into Yen 16.Then you will emerge into the arrival lobby. Locate a money-exchange counter (there are two of them) in the lobby. You need around 5000 yen (roughly equivalent to US$50 at today's rate) till you reach the hotel (for phone calls, train fare and taxi fare).
