Two warriors stand with spears on their shoulders. The warrior on the left is interesting, because he carries two gaša (Amharic for round shields made of buffalo or hippopotamus skin) and wears a strange board-like decoration protruding from his brow. According to documents, this decoration was worn by a majority of Ethiopians, and was often modeled after stars, flowers, or branches. They most likely wore knee-length pants, as seen with the warrior in lithograph 28, under the loosely worn cotton shamma.
